Sui was offline for 5 hours and 55 minutes on Thursday due to a bug in the blockchain’s latest “1.72 release.”“Sui mainnet is currently experiencing a network stall. Network activity may be paused at this time,” the Sui team said Friday on X.

The Sui token is among the worst performing top 100 crypto assets of the last week in the wake of back-to-back outages.

Sui said the blockchain is experiencing a “network stall,” as block explorers show the protocol has not produced a block in over 1 hour and 45 minutes.

The TrapDoor malware campaign has targeted crypto developer environments tied to Aptos, Sui, and Solana through more than 34 malicious packages and over 384 related versions across npm, PyPI, and Crates.io, according to Socket Security.The packages impersonate developer tooling for crypto, DeFi, AI, and security workflows and use postinstall hooks, Python import triggers, and Rust build.rs scripts to steal credentials.

Sui has processed over $1 trillion in stablecoin volume since August, Mysten Labs co-founder Adeniyi Abiodun said in an interview with The Block at Consensus 2026.Abiodun framed the network as a default rail for money movement, and said zero-fee stablecoin transfers and private payments are scheduled to roll out this year.

Sui's market performance is getting better following the recovery of trading volume.
