amAPT is a liquid staking token representing a 1:1 ownership of deposited APT, maintaining its peg primarily for use in DeFi liquidity or trading. In contrast, stAPT is a yield-bearing "vault" token. When you stake amAPT into the stAPT vault, it begins to accumulate staking rewards automatically. Its value increases over time relative to amAPT as these rewards accrue, reflecting the underlying staked APT and its earnings. You hold amAPT for DeFi liquidity needs, and stAPT for earning passive staking rewards.

To earn staking rewards, you must stake your amAPT into the designated stAPT vault on the Amnis platform. Simply holding amAPT in your wallet does not generate any yield. Rewards for stAPT are "auto-compounding," meaning they are automatically added to your staked amount. You do not need to manually claim them. Instead, the exchange rate between stAPT and amAPT gradually increases over time, reflecting the accumulated rewards. This means that when you eventually redeem your stAPT, you will receive more amAPT than you initially staked.

There are two main methods to withdraw your APT. The "Slow Withdrawal" involves unstaking directly via the Amnis protocol, which typically takes between 14 to 30 days, depending on the current blockchain epoch. This method usually incurs no additional fees. Alternatively, for an immediate conversion, you can utilize an "Instant Swap" by trading your amAPT for APT on a decentralized exchange (DEX) like PancakeSwap or LiquidSwap. While instant, this option might involve a small trading fee or slight price slippage depending on market conditions and liquidity.

The protocol employs several mechanisms to maintain the 1:1 peg between amAPT and APT. This primarily involves leveraging deep liquidity pools across various decentralized exchanges. Additionally, a "reserve mechanism" is utilized, which can buy back amAPT if its market price deviates significantly from the APT peg, helping to stabilize its value. The protocol also uses real-time monitoring alerts to quickly identify and address any potential instability, especially during periods of market volatility, ensuring the peg's integrity.

Security is a paramount concern for Amnis Finance, and the protocol has undergone comprehensive audits by multiple reputable firms, including OtterSec, MoveBit, and Verichain, to ensure the robustness and safety of its smart contracts. Beyond simply holding, amAPT and stAPT are highly integrated into the broader DeFi ecosystem. Users can leverage their tokens on various platforms, such as lending them on Aries Markets, Meso Finance, or Echelon. This allows for opportunities to potentially earn additional yield by using stAPT as collateral while simultaneously continuing to accrue its inherent staking rewards.

The $AMI token is designed to be the future governance token for the Amnis DAO, empowering holders to vote on key protocol changes and strategic decisions.
