The goal is to earn stars by completing daily quests and selling products within a 24-hour limit. It offers both free and paid versions; the free version helps new players learn before moving to paid servers for earning. A Gala account is required. Players select from various land types like deserts or forests, each presenting unique challenges.

Initially, players earned TOWN coin by completing daily challenges, achieving stars, and utilizing their Town Star NFTs. Earning potential was influenced by investments, playtime, and efficiency, alongside 'Gala Power' from owned GALA and TOWN, NFTs, and account age. However, Gala Games altered the tokenomics, discontinuing direct TOWN token rewards. Earning now primarily focuses on GALA, particularly for those who operate nodes within the ecosystem. The shift aims to streamline the reward structure and align with the broader ecosystem's primary token.

NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) are vital for Town Star gameplay and earning potential. These digital assets include buildings, land, and special items, which players can acquire from the game developer or through secondary digital marketplaces. Owning NFTs provides substantial in-game advantages, such as boosting production efficiency or granting access to exclusive activities. The number of NFTs a player can actively use to earn rewards is typically linked to their 'Gala Power' level, enhancing their ability to progress and earn within the game.

TOWN coin was originally the native cryptocurrency of Town Star, serving as the main reward for daily missions and in-game achievements. It could be converted to other cryptocurrencies or real-world currency. However, due to issues with sustainability and an oversupply, Gala Games announced the discontinuation of TOWN rewards in early 2023. All TOWN holders were then required to exchange their tokens for GALA, which has now become the primary token within the Town Star ecosystem, replacing TOWN's direct utility for in-game rewards.

Town Star Nodes are game-specific nodes operating within the broader Gala Games ecosystem. Enthusiastic players who maintained these nodes could host a Town Star Server. Initially, node operators were rewarded with TOWN Coins for running their nodes, provided they met specific uptime requirements. Following changes to the reward structure, similar to player earnings, Town Star Node holders now earn GALA instead of TOWN. This change aligns the node rewards with the primary token of the ecosystem, supporting its long-term strategy and sustainability.

A major concern revolved around the sustainability of Town Star's 'play-to-earn' model and the TOWN token's economic viability. Reports indicated an excessive amount of TOWN was being earned and subsequently sold, leading to an oversupply and a significant price drop. This prompted Gala Games to halt TOWN emissions and eventually discontinue TOWN rewards, transitioning to GALA to bolster the overall ecosystem's sustainability. These adjustments aimed to combat inflation and fortify the game's economy, although they caused dissatisfaction among some players who had invested heavily in TOWN-earning NFTs.
