Multichain Bridged DAI (Energi) is a digital token that represents the DAI stablecoin on the Energi blockchain. In the Web3 ecosystem, this type of asset is known as a bridged or wrapped token. It was designed to allow users to transfer the value of DAI from the Ethereum network to the Energi network, enabling them to use the stablecoin for activities such as trading on decentralized exchanges like Energiswap or participating in various decentralized finance applications within the Energi ecosystem. The token was originally created using the Multichain protocol, formerly known as Anyswap. This protocol functioned as an infrastructure layer for cross-chain interoperability, allowing different blockchains to communicate and exchange assets. The bridging process typically involved a lock and mint mechanism where the original DAI tokens were held in a secure smart contract on Ethereum, while an equivalent amount of Multichain Bridged DAI was minted on the Energi blockchain for the user. Following the arrest of the project leadership and subsequent security vulnerabilities, the Multichain bridge services were officially halted. This event had a major impact on all tokens that relied on the Multichain infrastructure for their backing and cross-chain movement. Because the bridge is no longer operational, users can no longer move these specific Multichain-branded tokens back to their original chains through the original service. In response to the collapse of the Multichain protocol, the Energi team developed its own native solution called the Energi Bridge. This newer infrastructure provides a direct and official path for users to move assets between Ethereum and Energi without relying on third-party protocols like Multichain. While the older Multichain Bridged DAI tokens may still exist on the Energi network and appear in some decentralized trading pools, they are distinct from the assets supported by the newer, official Energi bridging solution. The Energi blockchain itself is a decentralized platform that emphasizes governance and self-funding through a treasury system. By hosting bridged versions of popular assets like DAI, the network aims to provide its users with the utility of established stablecoins while benefiting from the specific features and governance model of the Energi ecosystem.
