SYMBIOSIS (SIS) FAQ
What is Symbiosis Finance and how does it function?
Symbiosis Finance is a decentralized multi-chain AMM DEX and bridge that facilitates "any-to-any" token swaps across over 60 different networks. This includes major EVM chains and prominent non-EVM chains such as Bitcoin, Solana, and TRON. Its primary innovation is allowing users to move and swap assets between different blockchains in a single click, simplifying the cross-chain experience compared to traditional multi-step bridge processes.
What are the primary utilities of the SIS token?
The SIS token is central to the Symbiosis ecosystem with several key utilities. It serves as the native gas token for the SIS Chain, an Arbitrum-based rollup dedicated to protocol operations. Furthermore, SIS is used for governance within the DAO, acts as a security requirement for relayer nodes who must stake the token, and is used for distributing rewards to stakers and liquidity providers.
How can users benefit from veSIS?
veSIS (Vote Escrow SIS) is obtained by locking SIS tokens for a chosen duration of up to four years. Holders of veSIS gain governance voting power and significant protocol advantages, such as discounts of up to 60% on cross-chain swap fees and boosted APR rewards for participating in liquidity pools known as Octopools.
How does Symbiosis handle stuck or failed transactions?
For transactions made after February 9, 2025, the protocol includes an auto-revert feature that returns funds within one hour if a swap fails. Users can also manually initiate a revert through the "Stuck Transactions" tab on the Symbiosis WebApp. When a revert is processed, the funds are sent back to the user on the source chain, typically in the form of a stablecoin or wrapped asset.
What are sTokens and why might they appear in a user's wallet?
sTokens, such as sUSDC or sWETH, are transit tokens the protocol uses to transfer value between different blockchains. These tokens might appear in a user's wallet if a transaction fails or if they are providing liquidity to the protocol. They are fully backed and can be swapped 1:1 for their native equivalents through the Symbiosis platform at any time.
How is Symbiosis secured and what makes it unique among cross-chain protocols?
Symbiosis prioritizes security by using a decentralized network of relayers utilizing Multi-Party Computation (MPC) and Threshold Signature Schemes (TSS). Unlike many cross-chain solutions that rely on vulnerable pooled-asset designs, Symbiosis focuses on liquidity aggregation. This allows it to offer competitive rates across various DEXs while supporting a wider range of non-EVM networks like Bitcoin and TRON directly.
