xGRAV is the liquid derivative representation of the GRAV token on the Astrovault exchange, operating on the Archway blockchain. It is known as an "xAsset," designed to represent GRAV that is being staked or utilized by the protocol. This model allows the token to remain liquid, enabling users to trade or provide liquidity while simultaneously capturing value and earning rewards from the underlying network. It is a core component of the protocol's "Value Capture" design.

The main difference lies in their utility and value accumulation. GRAV is the base native token of the Gravity Bridge. xGRAV, however, is a liquid derivative designed to capture staking yields. While GRAV is the raw asset, xGRAV is the version utilized within protocol pools to generate protocol-owned liquidity. Over time, the value of xGRAV is designed to increase relative to GRAV as it accrues the underlying staking rewards generated by the protocol's activity.

Users can obtain xGRAV by "minting" it, which involves depositing GRAV into the Astrovault platform. Alternatively, users can swap other supported assets for xGRAV directly on the exchange. To "unmint" and retrieve the original GRAV, users must use the asset management dashboard. It is important to note that unminting typically requires a de-bonding period consistent with standard blockchain staking rules, unless there is sufficient liquidity in the GRAV/xGRAV pool to allow for an instant swap.

Holding xGRAV automatically allows users to benefit from the underlying staking yield of the native GRAV token. The protocol is structured so that the value of the xAsset increases relative to the base asset as rewards accrue. This mechanism ensures that holders capture value without needing to manually stake their tokens or lock them away, providing a flexible way to earn incentives while keeping the assets available for other decentralized finance activities.

xGRAV is commonly used in liquidity pairs, such as the GRAV/xGRAV pool, which allows users to provide liquidity with a lower risk of impermanent loss since both assets are tied to the same underlying value. Furthermore, xGRAV interacts with the "GRVT8" (Gravitate) feature. This specific contract is designed to boost rewards and frontload token distributions for participants, enhancing the overall utility of the xAsset within the broader ecosystem.

Since xGRAV is a CW20 token on the Archway network, it may not automatically be visible in standard browser-based wallets.
